New Architecture Graduate Students Onboarding, Advising, & Registration: Fall Term

You are invited to Grad Day! Each year, we welcome admitted graduate students to Grad Day to learn more about the programs.

Getting Started:

EUGENE Campus: If you accepted the offer of admission, you will receive a new student onboarding orientation invitation in the Spring term from Eugene campus Student Services that will walk you through what you need to know to get started at the UO. Eugene campus questions can be directed to archadvisor@uoregon.edu.

PORTLAND Campus: If you accepted the offer of admission, you will receive a new student onboarding orientation invitation in the Spring term from Portland campus Student Services that will walk you through what you need to know to get started at the UO. Portland campus questions can be directed to DSGNpdx@uoregon.edu.

Transcript Evaluations:

The results of the transfer evaluations will be sent during the orientation series from SAE student services. After receiving this plan you may schedule an appointment with an advisor to review the course content together and discuss the exact courses that you should take.

Portland Campus students will be notified directly if the Eugene campus is a more appropriate campus location to start their program.

Registration, Schedule of Classes, Academic Calendars:

*If all of your UO admission documents were received, your UO ID number and PAC number notification should have been emailed to you from the UO Graduate School. If you have received this notification, please claim your Duck ID.


M.Arch Track II Fall Term Registration:

Students who have paid their admission deposit will be sent a series of emails about Orientation.

Track II Fall start In-Person Orientation September 15th & 16th

During orientation, you will be guided through registration for ARCH 607 Seminar Track II (3) and ARCH 683 Intro Grad Design (6) by the Department of Architecture.

For additional classes, you will receive academic advising during orientation with instructions about how to set up appointments.


M.S. (Master of Science) Fall Term Registration:

M.S. Admits: Contact your supervising faculty directly for course registration planning.

Assistance with registration will be covered during in-person orientation.

M.S Fall start In-Person Orientation September 15th & 16th

Courses that you will register for (ARCH 601 Research, ARCH 605 Reading, ARCH 606 Special Topics require a Pre-authorization form to be completed in cooperation with and sent in by a supervising faculty prior to the start of the term. This will be discussed during Orientation.

Contact your supervising faculty directly for course registration planning.


Ph.D. (Doctoral) Architecture Fall Term Registration:

Ph.D. Admits: Contact your supervising faculty directly for course registration planning.

Assistance with registration will be covered during in-person orientation.

Ph.D Fall start In-Person Orientation September 15th & 16th

All independent study courses (ARCH 601 Research, ARCH 605 Reading, ARCH 606 Special Topics require a Pre-authorization form to be completed in cooperation with and sent in by a supervising faculty prior to the start of the term. This will be discussed during Orientation.

New Ph.D. admits typically register for ARCH 620 Res Meth Sustain Des (variable credit course, register for 4 credits), ARCH 633 History of Sustainable Design (4 credits), ARCH 601 Research (variable credits) with your supervising faculty, and other electives recommended by your supervising faculty.

SAE Hardware and Software Requirements:

  • All students in the Department of Architecture are required to have a personal computer. The most current specifications are available on the College of Design Technology Services website.
  • Please pay close attention to the mandatory hardware and software requirements. Aside from the computer requirement, there is a listing of specific software.
