New Architecture Grads

Welcome, Architecture Graduate Students!

You’ve been admitted to the Architecture program, but you may be asking yourself, “now what?” There’s still a few steps to go through before it’s all official and we are here to help guide you through it all.

Go through each step in the following checklist below and make sure to complete each action item!

Step 1: (Due April 15th*)

Tell the University of Oregon

  • If you haven’t submitted an application to the University of Oregon, please do so as soon as possible
  • If you are ready to join the flock, respond to your offer of admission:
    • Wait for an email from graduatestudies@uoregon.edu titled “Your Decision Status has Been Updated.”
    • Click the “Review Decision” link in that email to view your offer of admission. Log in using the same email and password you used to apply.
    • Click “View Update” in the Admission Decision Status Update section to view your official UO offer
    • Click “Respond to Offer of Admission” in the Application Checklist section and complete the form
  • Please note that if you are deferring your admission offer, you should accept your admission offer and proceed to step 2
Step 2: (Due April 15th*)

Tell the School of Architecture & Environment

  • Fill out our quick survey to let us know of your admission decision
  • This process includes paying a deposit to reserve your spot in the incoming class
Step 3: (Beginning April)

Claim your Duck ID

  • Your Duck ID does many things including giving you access to your UO E-mail, course information, academic advising team, etc.
  • Don’t get this confused with your UO ID which is a number that starts with 95!
  • You will need both your UO ID number and Personal Access Code (PAC) in order to claim your Duck ID
Step 4: (Due ASAP)

Submit all your Documents

  • Make sure to send all documents to the University of Oregon
  • Documents can include the following:
    • Official transcripts from all attended institutions with final grades posted
    • If your program requires submission of GRE test scores, they must be official copies
  • International students must also provide additional documentation:
Step 5: (Due ASAP)

Submit your Vaccination Records

  • All students must submit vaccination records for measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) as well as the COVID-19 vaccines to register for courses
  • The University Health Services website documents how to upload vaccination records
  • Additional vaccinations are highly recommended for students and guidance can be found on students’ myUOHealth portal
Step 6:

Attend Orientation

  • The Department of Architecture offers a comprehensive orientation that will cover many aspects of your academic program and the student experience
  • The University of Oregon’s Division of Graduate Studies offers a Graduate Student Orientation as well as a welcome lunch to help you meet fellow graduate students across campus
  • More information regarding orientation will go directly to your UO E-mail, so keep an eye out!

* 2024-2025 – If you require extension of the response deadline due to FAFSA delay, please contact us at archadms@uoregon.edu

Hardware and Software Requirements:

The department requires all students to have unlimited access to their own personal computers. Because of the professional application of complex graphic programs and large data files for most coursework, the department’s computer requirements exceed the average user’s computing needs. See the Student Computer Purchasing Guide on the College of Design Technology Services blog for recommended specifications and departmental requirements.

Studio Supply List:

For studio based programs, (M.ARCH Track I and M.ARCH Track II,) studios require hand media drafting, drawing, and model-making tools. The department has put together a list of recommended supplies as you prepare for your upcoming studios.

Scholarships, Financial Aid, Student Employment:

This website is an informative help guide and is not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Be sure and follow additional instructions as directed by the UO, Financial Aid, UO Admissions, UO Registrar’s, College of Design, and Department of Architecture.
